Selecting and Deselecting Nodes

When a node is selected, you can copy, cut, or delete it. The node must have focus to edit the label. A node gains the focus with a single mouse click, (see below for an example of a focused node).

Select a single node and/or link

Click on it once with the left mouse button. It will highlight.

 

Select multiple nodes and/or links

Starting with the cursor OFF any of the nodes you want to select (make sure the cursor is not a hand), click and drag. You can select all the nodes that the "box" touches or covers.

 

Deselect all selected node(s) and/or links

Use Shift-Click or Control-Click,

or just press the 'Esc' key (note: If a node has the focus, only that node will be deselected, if the view has the focus all nodes and links will be deselected).

 

Edit the label of a node

Type right on the label.

If there is already text on the label, the text you type will be added to the end of the label.

If you want to edit any part of the node, open it (see below).

 

Open a node (or link) to see and edit its contents and properties

Double-click the node (except maps and lists, where this would open the view), or choose Contents from the node right-click menu.
