In figure 1 below, you can see an example of the tag view panel open in the tabbed area on the left-hand side of the screen.
To create a tag group type its name in to the text field at the top of the tag view and press the 'Make Group(s) button. If you wish to add more than one group at the same time, you can enter all their names into the text field together, separated by commas and all those groups will be created. New groups will be added as folders to the tag tree as can be seen in figures 2, and 3 below which shows the creation of two new tag groups 'Development' and 'Genreal':
To delete a group right-click on the group to delete and select 'Delete Group'. It will then be removed from the database.
N.B. Currently there is no undo facility or warning message associated with tag group deletion, so be careful how you use this option.
If you wish to edit the name of an existing group double-click on the tag group name in the tree and it will become an editable field and you can change the name.
You can also use the 'Edit Group Name' option on the group right-click menu, which will open a separate dialog for you to edit the name in:
At any given time, one tag group is considered to be the 'active'. The active group is the one used to fill the Tag drop-down list, which appears on the tags toolbar (see The Tags Toolbar). This provides a shortcut for quick tag allocation while dialog mapping. To set a tag group as the active group right-click on the group and select 'Set Group As Active'
NOTE: If no group has been set as active then all tags will be displayed in the 'quick allocation' tag list on the tags toolbar. The tag group designated as the 'Active Group' by the user will be shown in green text to distinguish it from the others in the tags tree.
Adding and Removing Tags from Groups
To add tags to groups you use drag and drop with in the tag tree. You can hold down the shift key to drag and drop more than one tag into a group at once. If you wish to move tags between groups then that normal behaviour is that the tag will be moved between groups when dragged unless you hold down the Ctrl key, in which case the tag will be copied into the destination group.
To remove a tag from a group use the tag right-click menu and select 'Remove Tag From Group' see figure 8 below:
